G. Edward Kimm, Jr., MD, FACS
Dr. Kimm grew up on a farm in Lakeville, Minnesota, a small town about 20 miles south of Minneapolis. He earned a bachelor’s degree in physiology (magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa) and then a medical degree from the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. He completed his general surgery residency at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara, California.
Upon conclusion of his residency in 1992, he began his practice as a rural general surgeon in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. He brought minimally invasive (i.e. laparoscopic) general surgery to Northwest Colorado and developed a special interest in reflux disease while maintaining a broad practice, including endocrine and breast surgery. After 15 years, he moved to Denver for a change of pace and joined the staff at Denver Health Medical Center, initially as a trauma/acute care surgeon, but eventually leading the breast surgery program there. He joined the surgical faculty at Saint Joseph Hospital in 2010 and is currently the Associate Program Director of the surgical residency.
Dr. Kimm has over 25 years of general surgery experience and is eager to be a part of Downtown Surgery Specialists. He is interested in all aspects of general surgery and looks forward to meeting patients and their families and is available to answer any questions or concerns.
When he is not at work, Dr. Kimm enjoys outdoor activities such as biking, fishing and cross country skiing in the beautiful Rocky Mountains.
